WHY MEXICA AS AN IDENTITY FOR ALL OF OUR PEOPLE
Mexica Movement
First of all, to restate some of the facts, Anahuac is the
Pre-European Nican Tlaca cultural area that unites our people
from Costa Rica to the "Four Corners Area" (north of there,
east and west of there, to Texas and California). This area
has been one cultural area for at least four thousand years
and as long as 8,000 years. European borders, Criollo (European
Spanish speaker-descendant) control, and other artificial divisions
have created the Eurocentric false nations that now exist on
these lands of ours. We, the Anahuac people who inhabit these
lands are one people, one culture, one history, one past, and
one future.
The genocide of 23 million of our people cannot be undone,
but European control over our lives and our land must end and
will end. This may take fifty years or one thousand years but
it will be so.
The Eurocentric vendidos (sellouts –– traitors) and European
Settlers on our land who now dominate and control our lives
may not like the fact of our assertive existence and our awakening
to the knowledge of this monstrous enslavement of our people.
They are the only ones who are keeping our Anahuac nation from
rising again. They are the ones who are keeping us from our
land, our identity as a Nican Tlaca independent people, and
our great Anahuac Nican Tlaca history and heritage.
Anahuac is our nation and Mexica (Meh-shee-kah) is the identity
for all of our people to reconstruct as a collective identity.
We, the people of Anahuac (Mexico, "Central America", and the
so-called U.S. Southwest), are collectively Mexica because that
was our last great civilization. Most of us already call ourselves
Mexican, and Mexican is just the English language version of
saying Mexica. Mexica is what we can rebuild from our destroyed
Pre-European nation, much like the modern Italians built their
nation based on their Roman civilization, in light of the fact
that there were Etruscan, Greek, Phoenician, Carthaginian, Germanic,
Arab, and other components to their history, blood, and heritage.
Mexica is the only identity that we can collectively, and realistically,
reconstruct for ourselves, even though not one of us can claim
authentic pure Mexica blood (in the same way that most Italians
have no Roman blood). When we know the history of our Anahuac
people, we know that the Mexica were executed, exiled, and finally
absorbed by the rest of Anahuac through a Spaniard process of
ethnocide and genocide.
Mexica is the collective identity, history, and heritage that
we are rebuilding. Collective (meaning: our people first, and
always) is the Nican Tlaca Anahuac approach –– our Mexica Movement
approach. Individualism (meaning: for the self first, and always)
is the anti-Anahuac Eurocentric approach.
The Eurocentric "Mestizo" identity has been a European Settler
imposed self-hate, a farce, a lie, and a tragedy for our people.
It has enslaved our people to the interests of Europeans. It
has made fake Europeans out of us –– extremely bad copies of
Europeans, a joke (fake blondes, fake names, etc.).
The Maya, Zapotec, Mixtec, Purepecha, Otomi, Huaxtec, and Mexica-Aztec
were the only large civilizations that we could have realistically
drawn our collective identity from. We do want it made clear
that we do not intend to lose these parts (Maya, Zapotec, etc.)
of the whole of who we are by embracing Mexica as a collective
identity. It is in our interest to collectively be Mexica and
then to be also Maya, Hopi, Tarahumara, Huichol, Shoshone, Pipil,
Apache, etc.
Mexica is the only one of our civilizations and cultures that
has the combined factors of a written classical literature,
defined theology, and a record of its society that we can use
as a base from which we can recreate ourselves. Even though
none of us are Mexica direct blood descendants, we are never
the less cultural descendants of those who were our last great
cultural ancestors.
The Italians, Chinese, and Jews have made good culture from
what is in essence drawing from the zenith of their ancient
history. If it's good enough for them, it is more than good
enough for us.
Keep in mind the following facts:
1) The Mexica-Aztec of Tenochtitlan achieved the highest point
of civilization at the time of the European invasion. The Mexica-Aztec
have a large body of history, philosophy, and culture from which
we can rebuild our Mexica identity, history and heritage. It
is our best chance for a great and independent non-Eurocentric
future for all of our people.
2) The Nahuatl language spoken by the Mexica-Azteca was already
the common language spoken in the large cities and towns of
Anahuac. There are grammars, dictionaries, and studies of the
Nahuatl language already available. There are remnants of this
language in the version of Spanish that our people speak (cuate,
tocayo, cholo, pocho, etc.). We would, of course, all keep our
original Nican Tlaca languages while using Nahuatl as a common
language to speak to each other.
Remember that embracing Mexica does not diminish being Maya,
Huichol, Purepecha, etc. It just gives us a way of rebuilding
our civilization, that is based on achieving a realistic victory
for our people. With Nahuatl and the Mexica identity, a Mixteco
speaker and a Yaqui speaker can speak with each other in the
Nahuatl language (not forced to speak Spanish or other European
languages as we are doing now) and at the same time understand
that they are both part of the Anahuac Nation. We each keep
our own Nican Tlaca Anahuac languages (and those who have lost
theirs will adopt Nahuatl or a local Nican Tlaca language).
This is the type of unity that we need –– NOT "Latino unity"
that enslaves us to Spanish language, identity, culture and
European people.
3) We already preserve Mexica as an identity with the word
Mexican in English, Mejicano in Spanish, Chicano in Calo, and
Meshikano in contemporary Nahuatl and Mexihcah (Meh-shee-kah)
in Classical Nahuatl. For those of us who are "Central American",
remember that there was no "Central America" until 1823. Before
that we were all part of Anahuac. We should not allow the Criollo
borders on our land to keep us divided. Anahuac is our nation
and we are the Mexica people in much the same way that the Italians
base their Italian identity on Roman civilization, even though
the northern Italians are of Germanic descent, the southern
Italians are of Greek and Arabic descent. There are very few,
if any, Italians who can actually claim Roman descent, but they
have no problem identifying with Roman culture and Roman identity.
They see it as their strength, their point of unity and their
best chance to be a great nation. Italians and Jews both reconstructed
themselves as nations based on the greatest of their civilizations.
If it has worked for them, then we too can reconstruct ourselves
based on our Mexica Anahuac civilization.
THE FACTS OF WHAT UNITES US AS AN ANAHUAC PEOPLE:
1) We, the people of Anahuac, were and are united as the children
of the Olmec Civilization in much the same way that the Jewish
people are the children of Abraham (a man of Sumerian cultural
origin). Our theology, ethics, philosophy, art, literature,
astronomy, mathematics, medicine, agriculture, worldview and
forms of government were inherited from the same original Olmec
mold.
2) We had a common understanding and acknowledgment of The
Creator before the Europeans invaded. We acknowledged only one
Creator, the four elements of The Creator, and that The Creator
is the Giver of Life (Ometeotl, Hunab Ku, The All-Sacred Duality)
3) Our food (corn, squash, beans, chile, chocolate and other
foods) were grown, prepared, and eaten in almost the same way
in all of Anahuac. Tlaxcalli (tortillas), metates, comales,
and dozens of other things related to food united us as a people.
4) Trade was extensive throughout Anahuac but very limited
outside of the areas of our nation. Gold, copper bells, feathers,
furs, turquoise, jade, cloth, chocolate, rubber, copal, chiles,
ceramics, arts and ideas were traded amongst us. All of this
unified us in the concept of our one world, one people, and
one civilization.
5) The ballcourts that are scattered from "Central America"
to the "Four Corners" area attest to the architectural, cultural,
artistic, theological, and historical proof to the unity of
our people in our world of Anahuac.
6) We also have linguistic, ritual, calendar, astronomical,
counting, and other traditions unique to our United People of
Anahuac.
